Swinburne University Admission Requirements

Swinburne University Bachelor's Programs:

  • Minimum Age: You must be at least 17 years old at the start of your course.

Academic Requirements:

  • For Bachelor’s programs: Completion of Year 12 or equivalent with a minimum of 60–70% (varies by course).
  • For Master’s programs: A recognised bachelor’s degree in a related field with at least 60–65% or equivalent GPA.

English Language Proficiency: You must meet Swinburne’s English language requirements (see below).

Additional Documents:

  • Some programs may ask for a portfolio, resume/CV, or statement of purpose.
  • For credit transfers, course outlines or transcripts may be needed.

Swinburne University English Language Requirements

Swinburne accepts various English test scores. Minimum scores include:

  • IELTS (Academic): Overall 6.0, with no band below 6.0 (some courses may require higher).
  • TOEFL iBT: Overall score of 64, with minimum 13 in Reading, 12 in Listening, 18 in Speaking, and 21 in Writing.

Working While Studying

Working while studying is highly encouraged. It offers valuable work experience, helps with finances, and is a great way to make new friends.

As an international student on a student visa, you can work up to 20 hours per week. However, be sure to balance your work schedule with your classes and homework. Many student visas have attendance requirements that you need to meet.
