Monash University Admission Requirements
Undergraduate Programs
To apply for a bachelor’s degree at Monash University, international students must:
- Complete an overseas qualification equivalent to Australian Year 12 (e.g. CBSE, ISC, IB, A-Levels).
- Meet the minimum ATAR score or its international equivalent as specified for the chosen course.
- Fulfil the English language proficiency requirements (see below).

To apply for a master’s degree at Monash University, international students must:

Monash University English Language Requirements
International students can meet the English requirement through any one of the following methods:
Accepted English Tests
- IELTS (Academic): Overall: 6.5, No band less than 6.0
- TOEFL: Total score: 79, Minimum scores: Reading: 13, Listening: 12, Speaking: 18, Writing: 21
- Pearson Test of English (PTE Academic): Overall score: 58, No communicative skill below 50%
Monash University English Language Waiver
You may be exempted from providing a test score if:
- You studied in English medium in your previous education (e.g. Indian boards with 65%+ in English).
- Your entire degree or schooling was completed in an English-speaking country.
- You completed one of the following:
- Australian Year 12 or VCE
- An Australian bachelor's or master's degree
- Recognised foundation/bridging programs taught in English
Note: Each case is assessed individually. Supporting documents like a Medium of Instruction (MOI) letter may be required.
