The Post Study Work Visa (PSWV) allows international graduates from eligible New Zealand qualifications to work in New Zealand after completing their studies. It is an open work visa — meaning you can work for any employer in any role. It is not tied to a specific job offer or employer. The visa is issued by Immigration New Zealand (INZ).
The duration of the PSWV depends on your qualification and where you studied:
  • 3 years if you completed a Level 7–10 qualification of at least 30 weeks in Auckland
  • 3 years for Level 8–10 qualifications (Postgraduate) studied outside Auckland in designated regions
  • Up to 3 years – Masters degrees (Level 9) across most universities
